Introducing GMPE 2017.1

Though we are still doing our in-house testing, we have received a fair amount of questions about GoldMine 2017.1 since its release last week.  That said, it seemed like the perfect time to make our own announcement to our customers, prospects, and blog subscribers.

For those of you that are using or have been thinking about using GoldMine Web, this version is definitely for you.  For those of you that use the robust link with Outlook but would prefer something a bit simpler, this version is definitely for you too!  For those of you that are using GM+Views, the IE Compatibility issue has been addressed.

Here’s the quick list for those of you who prefer an Executive Summary:

For All Users

  • Microsoft SQL 2016 & Server 2016 support
  • Cumulative Service Pack
  • Security updates

For GoldMine Web Users

WHAT’S FIXED IN GOLDMINE 2017.1 (includes all 2016.1 hotfixes)

  • Create email on GoldMine internal user on Project’s team tab does not create internal email to User but instead creates email to Project’s primary contact.
  • French, German and also Danish characters corrupt in the email header when downloaded into the GoldMine inbox – displays fine online.
  • Zoom or any interactivity with GM+View Google Maps or Google Directions does not work on IE 10 or IE 11 but works in IE 9 or IE 8.
  • Google Maps and Google Directions GM+View appear always with message at the top ‘It looks like you have enabled Internet Explorer Compatibility View. Google Maps will not work correctly unless this is turned off. Learn how to do this’.
  • Body of e-mail flickers when replying to an e-mail with certain content – When replying to a HTML formatted email that contains external images, the cursor repeatedly flashes, alternating between the hour glass and pointer.
  • Linkedin GM+ View displays incorrectly formatted as the first search result is obscured by the menu items on the webpage.
  • When creating a recurring activity and editing the start date after creating the recurring series, if not clicking the recurring tab the last date of the recurring series drops off.
  • GoldMine – Outlook Synchronization will lose/destroy after several changes and synchronizations back and forth German special characters.
  • [GMWEB] Removing Edit Tab Folders right for a user, makes the user unable to complete activities in GoldMine Web | Contact’s Pending area while this is possible in GMPE on the Contact’s Pending tab.
  • When using Google Maps and Google Directions GM+View a message appears – You seem to be using an unsupported browser. This even re-appears when setting Google Maps to full instead of lite mode.

  • [GMWEB] Feature request – Add the schedule a Follow-up option to GoldMine Web.

  • GM+Views for LinkedIn templates are distorted, scrambled, fields are overlapping and there is a lot of white space on the left and right, maybe even message, looks like you’re using a browser that’s not supported although IE 11 is installed and used.
  • Cross validated/context depending F2 lookups on OPMGR table: F2 values different in Opportunity’s/Project’s detail vs. Opportunity’s/Project’s properties view. Properties view shows no values as it looks for ‘ ‘ instead of set values.
  • Emails (either with certain encoding or from certain mailserver, mailclients) will destroy Special characters (for example GERMAN or FRENCH) within the body – initially reported for PLAIN but also for HTML.
  • Query times out or sync takes ages when a lot of users are in a GoldMine database, and / or filtered sync settings are used – offending query part seems to be C.USERID IN (‘BARBIE’,’BT’,’DD’,’DERY’,’….,KAREN’,’KATIE’…).
  • [GMWEB] When using forced valid input for the STATE F2 Lookup entry that contains comments in format value // comment the entry will not show as valid input in.

  • GoldMine column in Outlook no longer shows any box or check mark after upgrading to GMPE 2016.1.
  • When a different user completes a recurring single-user Activity scheduled for a different user, the completing user is taken over even with the variable added to the Environment table.
  • Change Request – Change of the Pop-Up message “Are you sure you want to delete all selected alarms?” as this deletes the related activities and not only alarms as the message lets one assume.
  • [GMWEB] Unable to set a date older than today when Adding a history item in GoldMine Web after upgrading to GMPE/GM Connect 2016.1 GA release.
  • The operation cannot be performed because the message has been changed when manually linking while creating an email in Outlook and then try to send.
  • Sent Email won’t link from Outlook to GoldMine when using the option “Link To: Additional Contact”.
  • Randomly on new contacts created by web import, the AP creates the activity and or history item but does not link it to the new contact.

Introducing GMPE 2016.1

Though officially released last month, call me old school… but I wanted to wait for HotFix 1 before making our announcement. In a nutshell, what 2016.1 brings to the table, in addition to rolling up all the 2015.2 hot fixes, are more substantial enhancements to the new end-user interface known as GoldMine Web. For many customers, GoldMine Web is slowly becoming the alternative, entry-level interface for the basic user. Power-users, at least for some time, will continue to access GoldMine via the desktop interface we all know as GoldMine Premium Edition.

And so without further ado… let’s dig deep into what GoldMine 2016.1 has to offer.

WHAT’S NEW IN GOLDMINE 2016.1 (includes 2016.1 HotFix1 and all 2015.2 hotfixes)

GoldMine Web > Cases

  • A Cases list is available from the navigation bar or menu. By default, the list is filtered to Open Cases for the logged in User. A User can select to view Cases with a different Status or Owner or view all Cases. The Cases list can be sorted by the available columns – Case Number, Type, Subject, Company, Priority, Status, Deadline, or Owner.
  • Cases are also available from the new Cases section on the Contact record. From the Cases section, the user can click the View All link to see the Cases List filtered to Cases for the selected Contact.
  • Select a Case from the list or section to view or edit information about the Case.
  • A Case can be Reassigned or Escalated and an email notification can be sent to the Owner. A Case can be Resolved or Abandoned and an email notification can be sent to the Contact.
  • More information is available in Knowledge article 23544. Login at https://support.heatsoftware.com/.

GoldMine Web > Search

  • By clicking the Refine link on the Contacts page, a User can search based on desired criteria for selected default and custom fields seen in GoldMine Web. A User can select fields from the main Contact record fields (the first section of a Contact Record) or from Custom screens (the second section of the Contact Record). A User can select a search operator from a defined list. A desired value can be entered or selected from a list or calendar. A search can be done on a single field or more fields can be added by selecting the plus icon. When the Apply button is selected, the Contact List is updated to show only Contacts that meet all of the selected criteria.
  • Filters or Groups created in GoldMine Premium can be selected in the Refine section or overlay to limit the Contact List to only Contacts belonging to the Filter or Group. Search criteria can be applied to the selected Filter or Group to further limit the list of Contacts.
  • More information is available in Knowledge article 23545. Login at https://support.heatsoftware.com/.

GoldMine Web > Additional Contacts

  • When a search for Contacts is done from the Search Bar or the Attendee finder for Activities, the user can select Contacts or Additional Contacts to view a list of results matching the value entered.
  • From the Additional Contacts search results list, the User can view and sort by Additional Contact, Company, Email address, Phone, and Primary Contact. The user can also schedule an activity for the Additional Contact using the Action icons.

Selecting the option will open the Schedule overlay for the same activity type as just completed. Options for scheduling a follow-up by default and carrying over completion notes will be respected in a future release.
  • A map pin icon is available on Contact records to open Google Maps with search done for the contact’s address.
  • A notification is displayed if the User is accessing a Contact Set that is in a database different from GoldMine Base tables.

Introducing GMPE 9.0.4.46

Though released in late April, 180° Solutions is now ready to endorse GoldMine Premium Edition 9.0.4.46.  If you have worked with us for a while, you will start to recognize several of our well-used mantras.  One of those is “there is no reason to chase technology”.  The spirit behind that one is, just because a new version/build is out, that doesn’t mean everyone should hurry up and upgrade to it.

We have now been running it in production for almost 5 weeks and we have helped several customers install/upgrade this latest release as well.  So far everything looks great.  Want to learn more about this in this new release?  Here ya go:
WHAT’S NEW IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 9.0.4

  • GoldMine Premium Edition now supports GoldMine Mobile Edition 9.
  • A new Messaging tab appears in the user options screen when a GoldMine Mobile license is added to the License Manager.  The Messaging tab enables users to receive alarms for upcoming activities on their mobile devices as SMS messages.  For more information, please review the GoldMine Mobile Edition Installation and User Guide.  The Pager tab that appeared in previous releases is no longer displayed.

WHAT’S ENHANCED IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 9.0.4

  • GoldMine Plus for Microsoft Outlook now includes an option to file Outlook e-mail messages in a specified GoldMine folder.  To use this option, go to Setup GoldMine Plus > Options and select the “As a completed activity in the filed e-mail folder” button and uncheck the “Fast File” option.  If an e-mail message is instead linked as a pending activity, there will be a new File button active on the GoldMine pane in Outlook, enabling the message to be filed on demand.
  • To improve performance in the GoldMine E-mail editor, the “Regarding:” drop-down list (where the user can select an opportunity, project, or case) will only show 50 items related to the current contact.  If a larger list is necessary, the following entry can be added to the gm.ini file:
        [GoldMine]
MaxRegardingListSize=n  (where n is the desired list size)
  • To support environments where there is no C:\ drive available, GoldMine Plus for Microsoft Outlook now has a setting that enables an administrator to choose where system log files are created.  If an alternate location is needed, add an entry to the gm.ini in the following format:
        [GoldMine]
        OutlookAddinLogDir=D:\GMOutlookLog\
  • The checkboxes used to set up automatic synchronization with Outlook have been modified to clarify their behavior.  To use automatic synchronization with Outlook, go to Tools > Synchronize > Synchronize with Outlook and check “Automatically synchronize with Outlook”.  In addition, there is a secondary option, available at Tools > Configure > Outlook Integration Settings > Synchronization, which enables the synchronization schedule to be activated when Outlook is opened.  This option is now labeled “Use automatic synchronization when Outlook is open” and now can be enabled only if “Automatically synchronize with Outlook” is checked.

WHAT’S FIXED IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 9.0.4.46

  • E-mails sent via Merge process display merge codes instead of contact data
  • E-mails sent via Automated Process with Merge For option set to Record Owner or Selected User will send from logged-in user instead of designated user
